Senior Rigging TD

Rigging Technical Directors are responsible for creating and maintaining efficient rigs and muscle systems for our hero characters and creatures. They work closely with Modelers and Animators to develop and refine rigs that meet the specific requirements of our VFX pipeline.

  • Create fully scripted rigs and refine them according to the studio’s needs
  • Prototype, implement and refine organic and mechanical rigs
  • Create simple tools to improve workflows
  • Meet delivery deadlines under production constraints
  • Develop new rigging techniques and workflows.
  • Work closely with Supervisors to develop tools and workflows associated with creature development
Essential Skills:
  • Maya rigging (full body/facial)
  • Experience with Facs
  • Advanced Python or Mel, GUI scripting and the ability to follow strict coding standards
  • Experience with full scripted rigging
  • Solid understanding of facial anatomy
  • Good communication and time management skills
  • Solid knowledge of anatomy for bipeds and quadrupeds, skeletons and muscles
  • Solid understanding of constraints and deformers
  • Experience with setting up muscle systems in Ziva
Additional Skills:
  • Life drawing or organic modeling
  • Strong maths background
  • C or C++ programming Maya plugins
  • Experience with body motion capture: rig hookups, offset rigs, re-targeting etc.
  • Knowledge of Houdini, Mudbox and/or Zbrush
